The HD12 charger has been designed to charge both 6 and 12 volt batteries. It has an automatically regulated charging rate, which decreases as the battery becomes charged. The HD12 is fitted with a high quality moving iron ammeter, to accurately indicate the charging rate being applied to the battery. As the charge rate is automatically regulated, the ammeter also gives accurate visual indication of the battery condition.
The unit plugs into any 240 volt power point and costs about 2 cents an hour to run. For added safety the unit is fuse protected to prevent damage to either the battery or the charger. COMPAK battery chargers are full wave rectified, giving twice the effective charge rate of that of similar half wave rectified chargers. Diode rectified using 4 x 25 amp rated silicon diodes, which have an unlimited life and are over 40% more efficient than the plate rectifiers used in other chargers. The diodes are set on extra large heat sinks to allow for continuous operation .
